An art exhibition was held by a group of young female enterprising artists who are based out of Kolkata from December 6 to December 8, 2019 in the Jamini Roy Gallery of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). These budding artists showcased their unique artwork which attempted to represent their own created universe.

Painter Shruti Kanoria was in charge of the exhibition. Eminent dignitaries like painter Wasim Kapoor, Deputy High Commissioner, Kolkata of British Deputy High Commission Nick Low, and the Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar were present at the inauguration of the exhibition. The gallery was vibrant with conversations about art and beauty and the sheer joy of witnessing one’s creativity through colours was omnipresent on the faces of the curious spectators at the exhibi-tion. The female painters explained to the inquisitive audience about the message they wanted to convey through their paintings.

The Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar told BE, “Me and my wife are extremely delighted to be here at the invitation of Shruti (Kanoria). We interacted with the mentor Debashish and the ten girls have done an amazing job. The creativity is of the very highest order and each painting has a message.” Also, talking about the passion for painting and her creations, painter Tavishi Kanoria told BE, “This is a very passionate part time venture that I have and I also have a couple online portals. I do exhibitions pretty often and the hobby helps me keep stress free from my full time occupation. Painting is a really nice escape for me when I can do something peaceful. If you see all my paintings the common denominator is peace, and calm and a meditative state. So painting for me is like a meditation and that is what reflects in all my works.”
