Pharmaceutical sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in India. As this industry is growing exponentially the demand for the human resource is also increasing.  Here comes the role of Pharmaceutical Management Course into picture. Nowadays, various management courses are there in the academic fields. Amongst them Pharmaceutical Management is a course which is designed to give a broad picture of functional aspects of the Pharmaceutical Companies. This programme not only provides knowledge and skills to the students but it offers practical management training that can prepare students to successfully works within an organisation.

Prof. Puja Tiwari, Assistant Professor, Haldia Institute of Management said, “This course is an amalgamation of the basics of pharmaceutical science and management studies. The course curriculum includes various management subjects such as Business Economics, Financial Management, Marketing Management etc. along with pharmaceutical subjects such as Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry etc. Academically this course tries to explore the various areas of research, sales & distribution and business management in the pharma sectors. This course tries to prepare the students as a readymade corporate candidate. It develops the student’s skills in planning and operating management techniques and solving management problems. During the tenure of three years students will have hands on experience by getting into the training sessions in various healthcare organisations. This helps in building skilled and effective professionals for the pharmaceutical sector.”

Indian pharmaceutical sector is an emerging market. Government of India has also come up with the decision to allow 50% public funding in the pharmaceutical sector. This creates plenty of job opportunities in this sector.Pharmaceutical industry not only requires highly qualified researchers or technical people but it also demands skilled managers who can use their managing skills and ideas for the growth of the industry. This also opens up a spectrum of job opportunities in the fields such as government departments, universities, pharmaceutical industry, hospitals and other fields related to the healthcare industry.

Dr. S. N. Bandyopadhyay, Director, Haldia Institute of Management said, “In today’s world, we see that every aspect is being changed or upgraded in almost every field. Education sector has also seen a drastic change over the year. Now we as an educationist try to analyse the gap in the academic arena in such a way that would uplift the students and make them industry oriented candidates. I believe that knowledge would have been of no use if it does not have any application in the workplace as well as in our day to day life. It is extremely important to encourage students to participate in various projects and activities which are more into application based. We try to develop the overall aspects of the students by providing them various grooming and communication classes along with various case studies so that their analytical skills and decision-making capability is enhanced. We hope that this gives them an edge over their competitors and we genuinely try to create a pool of students who will be readymade for the healthcare industry.”
