Gopal Singh - an additional Charge of the Chairman of the Coal India Limited

The C.M.D. of the Central Coalfields Ltd. (C.C.L) Gopal Singh would be the Chairman of Coal India Limited as an additional Charge till the appointment of the full– term Chairman. Gopal Singh has rendered his service in Kusmunda area, Chhattisgarh as General Manager. The Additional Secretary of the Coal Ministry Sanjeev Bhattacharya issued the appointment order: this order would remain effective till the next order.

It is to be noted that on Public Enterprises Selection Board; no one is selected as chairman after conducting an interview. In which along with the Gopal Singh, CMD of WCL R.R. Mishra, CMD of Mahanadi Coalfield A.K. Jha; CMD of CMPDI  S. Sharan; Director [Finance] NTPC K. Bansal; Director [Commerce] NMDC T. R. Rao were interviewed but no one was given appointment. After the decision of the PSEB that any one of them can be appointed, it is learnt that the government is interested in the Upper Secretary of Coal Ministry, Suresh Kumar [IAS] to be the full – term Chairman of the Coal India Ltd. 

The chairman of Coal India Limited Suthirth Bhattacharya retired on August 31, 2017 and was released after giving charge to the Director Personal [In-charge]. While reshuffling of the Central Ministers was expected  who would be the  chairman in charge was suspi- cious who would be given the additional Charge of Chairman. Meanwhile the Additional Secretary of the Coal Ministry Sanjeev Bhatta-charya  issuedorder and handed over the additional responsibility of the in charge of  chairman Coal India Ltd. Gopal Singh is now C.M.D. of Ranchi. Previously he had also been given responsibility of C.M.D. of B.C.C.L.
