SHE presents Kolkata Festival 2020

In an attempt to boost the business of small and medium scale industries, homepreneurs and to raise funds for BestFriendz Society, SHE headed by Shagufta Hanaphie organised one of the best Fashion & Lifestyle exhibition post Lockdown " Kolkata Festival " at ICCR on 11th and 12th December, 2020 from 12 noon to 7p.m.

The grand shopping experience got shopaholics scout through a wide range of clothes, fabric, accessories, bags and much more. Understanding the need to give exposure to those whose livelihood has suffered during the pandemic, the organisers have opened the platform to craftsmen and women from all across the city. The exhibitors include Nash Boutique, The 999, Cell Active Colours, Shajiya Boutique, Rabbah Collections, Gracious Hub, Choice fashion, Kaalpi, Renesha Boutique, Clothing Palette, Febrics of India, Iqbal's Kitchen, Bake Adore, Hiya Sarees, Farha's Collections, Juwi's Elegant Collection, Ms Pro, Patiala House and many more. The visitors enjoyed the two-day extravaganza by relishing home-made cookies and by picking reusable items of their choice.

The opening of the event on 11th  December saw dance Group Sankalp paying a tribute to Late Soumitra Chatterjee. This was followed by an interactive session on women empowering lives pre and post lockdown. Chaitali Das, Chairperson, Rakshak Foundation; Gulshan Bano, Makeup artist; Sujata Agarwal of Lions Club and Sujoy Biswas, Director, Techno India were present as the speakers.  The session began at 2.30pm and showed how women have shown their multi-tasking abilities during the lockdown and have proved their ability at simultaneously being the champions of both - their home and work place. The event was inaugurated by Padamsree Purna Das Baul; Shagufta Hanaphie, Founder and Director, SHE and Regional Director ICCR Gautam De, Director, ICCR.

Day two began with ‘Legends of Kolkata’ themed fancy dress where children between 5 to 13 years walked the ramp with different outfits paying tribute to the legends of Kolkata.  A special santoor was performed by Ayush Lala, a student of Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya. It was followed by the installation ceremony of Payal Varma as the new Chairperson of BestFriendz Philantrophy. After the installation program, the evening began with a chat show and interactive session on ‘Abused Durga’, to highlight and remove the plight of women and the gross reality behind what they are facing at home during the pandemic.  Speakers who spoke  on this issue included cine and theatre actress Papia Adhikary, actress and classical dancer Anindita Roy; Professor Aammar Zaki, Advocate, High Court,; Supratim Roy, producer, film distributer and GSC International VC; Soma Lahiri, Editor Bartama Sukhi Grihokon and Shagufta Hanaphie-, Founder SHE.

KOLKATAR GAANWALA performed live and the guest enjoyed the evening and other musical programmes followed the event.

The Kolkata Festival is platform to big and glamorous entrepreneurs, traders, professional & young designers, regional handicrafts, designer's boutique, fashion designers’, fashion garment showrooms, men’s and kid's wear, precious and semi-precious jewellery, accessories and bags, herbal and skincare, beauty products, art and crafts, paintings, footwear, home furnishing and decor, chocolates and gifts, promotional houses, lifestyle products along with other products and services related to the fashion and lifestyle industry.

The event saw a footfall around 500 plus people attending the event and shopaholics were satisfied with the collections what the homepreneurs exhibited at Kolkata Festival at ICCR.

The organisers thanked the partners for their cooperation. The Lions Club Elite 322B1, Rakshak Foundation and Asparagus Wedding were the associate partners for the event. our Radio Partner Friends FM was the radio partner and Business Economics was the magazine partner. At the end of the day, the Kolkata Festival was a healthy, hygienic, satisfying, safe and enjoyable shopping experience.
