Appointment of Ajay Vyas as executive director of UCO bank

Ajay Vyas has been appointed as Executive Director of UCO Bank. Ajay Vyas has varied experience in different areas of banking such as Commercial Banking, Financial Inclusion, General Administration, Electronic Payments, debit and credit cards, Acquiring Services and Marketing. Before joining the bank he was General Manager and worked for over 25 years in various capacities in Central Bank of India.

SAIL Steel used to make India’s indigenous artillery gun ‘Dhanush’

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has supplied steel for India’s first indigenous and biggest artillery gun ‘Dhanush’, which was inducted into Indian Army. With this, SAIL has once again established its commitment to fulfill country’s every requirement and strengthening India’s defence systems. On this occasion, Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman, SAIL said, “It is matter of great pride for us that SAIL steel is being used in India’s various defence programmes along with being used for building country’s infrastructure. SAIL is ready to meet and supply special grade steels for technical requirement of country’s defence programmes.”

Allahabad Bank opens 53 Retail and MSME Processing Centres (RMPC)

Allahabad Bank has recently launched 53 Retail and MSME Processing Centres (RMPC) pan India. RMPC will ensure availability of relevant expertise for better credit appraisal, delivery and collection. CH.S.S Mallikarjuna Rao, MD and CEO, Allahabad Bank inaugurated 4 RMPCs at Salt Lake (Kolkata), Shakuntala Park (Behala), Udairajpur (Barasat) and M K Road (Howrah) in presence of Sudhanshu Gaur, S V L N Nageswara Rao and Imran A. Siddiqui, General Managers of the Bank. The concerned Zonal Heads along with P.S. Azad, DGM, BPR were also present on the occasion. Retail credit proposals above 5 lakh and MSME proposals above 10 lakh will be processed through the newly inaugurated RMPCs.

GJC’s Labham Edifies Kolkata Jewellers

All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) organised an educational seminar titled ‘Labham’ in Kolkata. ‘Labham’ is an educational seminar on compliance, taxation, Hallmarking, credit and best business practices for gems and jewellery trade. Anantha Padmanabhan, Chairman, GJC said, “GJC have designed this programme for the benefits of the jewelers whereby the jewellers understand the technicality of various compliance procedures. Labham also help in easing many complex practices of doing business.” According to Shaankar Sen, Vice Chairman, GJC and Convener of ‘Labham’ this programme has been immensely successful and beneficial for the jewellers and has helped them the teething issues of running their business as per new norms and compliance process of the government.

Thomas Cook witnesses strong 25% growth from Kolkata

Thomas Cook India is seeing strong growth of 25% from Kolkata which is a key source market in the East. Kolkata’s travel demand is being fuelled by interest in cruise holidays. Cruises are seeing growing popularity with strong growth of 32%. Women travellers are also driving travel demand by 28% especially for the company’s Ladies First tours.Towards increased customer access in Kolkata, Thomas Cook India’s extensive network covers 8 outlets including franchises in key locations. Romil Pant, Senior Vice President, Holidays feels, “Thomas Cook is witnessing increased demand of the customised holiday packages from this region which is the key strategic market.”
