On October 23, SREI Foundation organised an interactive session to commemorate the ‘World Values Week’ at Shivananda Hall, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark. Swami Suparnananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata; Dr. H.P. Kanoria, Chairman SREI Foundation; Dr. Debanjan Chakrabarti, Director East and North-East, British Council India; Anil Grover, Founder Chairman, Atmatva Foundation; Anup Gupta, President, SCIR and Dr. Rahul Varma, President, SREI Foundation were present and addressed the audience. Mayna Pramanik, an acid attack survivor, was felicitated at the occasion.

Dr. Kanoria, Chairman, SREI Foundation said, “Values are the core of what makes us the fundamental things that need to be present in our lives for us to feel happy. Celebrating World Values Week gives us an opportunity to reflect on the values we hold and how they become practical in our lives. SREI Foundation has been working closely with like-minded organisations and nothing could be more appropriate than organising this event at the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture which has always been a great platform for inspiring and motivating all.” He added, “Our soul is divine and immortal. Work hard with a fearless mind. We have to follow Dharma which is our core value.”

Swami Suparnananda Maharaj said, “We will have to be socially productive and effective. Following Dharma, our occupation must be fair; otherwise we will be fallen from human qualities. We must follow ahimsa (non-violence), honesty, truth, cleanliness and character efficiency. Our productive efficiency and character efficiency must be combined.”

Dr. Rahul Varma, President, SREI Foundation told, “We hope to re-ignite the values in our society today which is getting lost over time. Because of increased crimes, we are missing values in our lives. Our morals are getting affected which we will have to recover.”

World Values Day was first celebrated in India on October 17, 2016 by the SREI Foundation and has, since then, taken up by many organisations across the world.
