The 8th episode of season 4 of Turiya Talks held on 18th August 2020 was on the topic of ‘Wildlife Photography as a Career’. The guest of the episode was Aarzoo Khurana, a well-known Wildlife Photographer who’s another profession is advocacy and the host of the episode was Dipshita Chaudhury from Turiya Communications. Aarzoo Khurana has been featured in many national and international publications. She has also been doing some workshops and seasons on Photography along with her main profession.
When she talked about her journey, she stated that the time she got a DSLR she started exploring its features. One thing which always caught her eyes is flying birds. She said “the fact that with a camera one can actually capture a moment and freeze it for a lifetime which otherwise is not possible with the naked eyes” is what fascinated her about photography and that’s how her journey began.

About working on the field she said that before shooting, a little research is needed to be done. Reading a bit about the behaviour and the habits of the particular animal or bird which one is going to capture is really going to help him/her in the process. She also said many a times people miss few important shots and there is no guarantee for anyone that they might get the desired shot which they are looking for. So people need to be mentally prepared for it.

She also shared some goosebumps giving experiences of her while capturing in the wild. She said that when someone is a wildlife photographer he/she becomes the voice of the jungle and that person is actually connecting the worlds inside and outside the jungle. According to her “Wildlife Photography is a beautiful field to work in and the more one will stay close to nature the more he/she will feel rejuvenated”.
