Jayanta Sinha, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation was invited to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest to inaugurate the 187th AGM of Calcutta Chamber of Commerce (CCC). On this occasion Sinha presented a development model of India which he claimed was different from other development models.
In his analysis he showed that development meant shifting people from agricultural sector to more and more productive sectors. That means if one country becomes more and more developed, then that results from more and more farming people coming to industry sector and service sector and even the more productive high-tech sector. So GDP of the economy would be higher as productivity of the people becomes higher. This is possible only when the skill of the people is increased to growth jobs in the more productive sectors. He sees that even common village men and women are interested in getting good jobs. So the policy of the government should be to increase the skill and education to such an extent that it can be possible to happen.
