Wildcraft launches SupermaskTM W95+

NABARD sanctions fund for Amphan affected districts

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) West Bengal Regional Office has sanctioned critical infrastructure projects of `794.33 crore to the Government of West Bengal during the second quarter of the current fiscal. The projects were sanctioned for roads and irrigation sector in the super cyclone Amphan affected districts of the state under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). The sanctioned projects involve rebuilding and re-construction of damages caused by Amphan. It is expected to immensely benefit the most vulnerable sections like small and marginal farmers by providing them with opportunity of better livelihood.

Friends in Apollo Gleneagles Kolkata donate plasma for Covid patients

Amit Sarkar, 26, and Ratnadeep Bhowmik, 27 in the nursing department of Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata donated their plasma and made a contribution to the fight against Covid-19. They became the fourth and fifth employees of the hospital to donate plasma during the ongoing pandemic. According to Dr. Sudipto Sekhar Das, Senior Consultant and Head of the Department - transfusion medicine, the results of Covid Convalescent Plasma (CCP) Therapy have so far been impressive. “When the plasma is transfused to the recipient, the anti-Covid antibodies play a crucial role in virus clearance and are essential in protecting against the disease” said Dr. Das.

Sabse Sasta Dukaan to set up 1000 logistic centers 

Sabse Sasta Dukaan pharmacy has announced its expansion plans to set up 1000 logistic centers in East India by the end of 2020. This includes West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar. Anish Agarwal, Co-founder and CEO, Sabse Sasta Dukaan, said, “We invested `2 lakh per logistic center. We are the second largest revenue sharer in semi-urban and rural India.” Anant Jain, Co-founder, CTO, Sabse Sasta Dukaan, said, “The company witnessed 20 times increase in sales volume in products like sanitizers, masks, PPE kits after the lockdown. Corona care category was the highest-selling segment for April and May after medicines category.”

A rare surgical emergency in Ruby General Hospital 

A 75 year old obese hypertensive lady was admitted in the Emergency department of Ruby General Hospital with complaints of severe pain, breathing distress and eviscerated bowel (bowel came out of the body through a perforation on the skin covering of Hernia sac) from a long standing ventral hernia. It is an extremely rare surgical emergency. She was treated by Dr. Sumanta Dey (Advanced Laparoscopic, Bariatric and GI Surgeon). Unfortunately, then she was tested positive for Covid-19. Later, after being tested negative the consultant operated her with all precautionary measures. At this age she has beaten both Corona and a complex ventral hernia.
