India recently celebrated its 73rd Republic Day with grandeur and glory. It is such a day that binds the people of the nation together irrespective of caste, creed and religion and inculcates a feeling of patriotism. Darshika Menswear, a leading apparels brand has utilised this opportunity and introduced a special traditional wear collection. The brand has introduced its aesthetic collection ‘Ekta’ comprising Nehru jackets, kurtas and bandhgalas, all with a special patriotic touch.

Like every other industry, the fashion and apparels industry in India is also reeling under the effects of the pandemic. Lockdowns and restrictions have hampered trade all over the world and apparel sales have fallen due to deteriorating financial conditions of the common people. Even the sense of fashion has changed a lot as many are working from home. Considering the casual and comfortable feeling that is now in demand, Darshika Menswear has created their collection with an amalgamation of cotton and linen materials. The minimalistic designs showcase their strong foundations and humble origins. Most of the collection is of light shades of blue, saffron, green and the ever classic white, that has a tinge of representation of the Indian national colours.

Customers can choose from the elegant Nehru jackets which can be donned over simple kurtas or shirts or can opt from a wide range of kurtas as well. The bandhgalas are designed to add a royal touch to the look.

This collection is pivoted around the Nehru jackets as they are immensely popular in India and is almost a mandatory feature in the wardrobe of Indian men. The jackets have a front-buttoned placket, with fabrics which are covered with large buttons and mandarin collar. The collection is prepared in such a way that men of all ages can opt for them and will provide an elegant and sophisticated look. ‘Classic is the new cool’ is the tagline of this brand and the collection also has kurtas with stripes and asymmetric patterns.

The collection has been priced competitively with prices ranging between `2,500 to `8,000 approximately. According to Shagun Agarwal, the designer behind this collection, “Despite the fact that the collection is post friendly, we did not compromise on the quality of the fabrics or craftsmanship.” She assured that most of her collection represents statement pieces and perfect finesse.
