The recently held “ECC Leadership Excellent Award” organized by the Eastern Chamber of Commerce concluded by felicitating fourteen eminent entrepreneurs in different categories. The Eastern Chamber of Commerce primarily works to develop Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The award programme was introduced by Subir Dutta, President, Eastern Chamber of Commerce. Swami Suparnananda Maharaj, Honorary Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata inaugurated the programme. Swami Suparnananda Maharaj spoke of the importance of living as a ‘rajarshi’. He emphasised that there was need for industrialists to have a mind of ‘raja’ but keep it as calm as a ‘rishi’. He stated that Dr. Hari Prasad Kanoria, Chairman, Srei Foundation, is a living example of it.
The event awarded Dr. H.P Kanoria for his lifetime achievements in trade, business, economy finance and philanthropy. He was widely acclaimed for his contribution to society and for being a role model for younger generations. Dr. Kanoria, while accepting the award, spoke of his journey though the worlds of business, philanthropy and media. Other awardees included Santosh Sharma, Yogesh Gupta, Shankar Ramalingam, Manasi Roy Chowdhury, Ajit Kumar Sarawgi, Madan Mohan Maity and Arjit Dutta.
