The Globsyn Business School recently organised a seminar on the topic “Technology in Management in the Age of Industry 4.0” at The Park on January 31, 2020. The seminar focused on the fact that how with technology and tools changing at a rapid pace, its effect are felt not just on industry and business but on everyday life.

Bikram Dasgupta, Founder and Executive Chairman, Globsyn Group, recalled his initiative to establish the Globsyn Business School. He said, “It was a period where world over, job losses were at the maximum and we were in a very difficult stage post a millennium changeover.” He said that to combat such a crisis situation, he preponed his plan to set up a management institution in 2002. He said with a smile, “This is how business goes. Things happen in our lives by default, not by choice.”

Dr. H.P.Kanoria, Founder Chairman and Managing Trustee, Kanoria Foundation, delivered the inauguration address at the event. He focused how spirituality is connected with technology. He said, “We are the manifested soul of the Universal soul – God. Our soul is infinite, divine, perfect. We have infinite knowledge, being a part of the Universal soul.” He further noted that spirituality awakened the inner power. He said, “It (spirituality) is the quality of the soul. It governs one’s intellect which is driven by intuitions. It gives insight, perception and intuition and unfolds a new horizon. It keeps us on the right track and allows us to work with devotion without expectation of fruits.”

Dr. Kanoria focused on the fact that how with the divine knowledge and intellect, one craves to contribute something for the welfare of humanity and how this leads to development of technology. He stressed on the importance of the third eye. He said, “The third eye is located in the centre of the frontal mind between two eyebrows. It is the eye of intuition, insight and of divine sight. It opens the gate to get the knowledge of cosmos, the ultimate reality. It gives ecstasy, performs peace and divine wisdom.” He cited the example of how Newton, developed the law of gravitation by having a sight of a falling apple. Dr. Kanoria concluded his speech by invoking Swami Vivekananda who said, “Manifest spirituality within you.”
