Involving an initial expenditure of `159 crores, the proposed mall at Nonadanga at Adarsha Nagar off Eastern Metropolitan bypass is a brain child of Mamata Banerjee headed Trinamool Congress state government. It is to be named “Unity Mall” in keeping with the nature wares planned to be in array at it.
Obviously, the handicrafts of West Bengal will make their presence felt at a shop to come up at this proposed marketing complex. A sprawling parking area, a food court and a venue to stage soirees will be among the facilities to be available at it. Keeping consumer interest in sight, the proposed mall will have arrangements for block chain and virtual reality. A place for worship, recreation and a creche will combine to give the proposed mall a contemporary and a humane look.
The state government endeavour is a follow-up effort of Union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman’s call in her budget speech to stand by handicraft makers. The proposed project will comprise of at least 36 stalls and occupy an area of one and a half acres.
