Mother of the Universe is the beginning of the Universe. She is the creator, sustainer and destroyer. Durga Mahatayam,
narrates that Adi Shakti i.e Mother created Lord Brahma as creator, Lord Vishnu as sustainer, Lord Shiva as destroyer.
She created the three Goddess, namely Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati (Durga) for each three Lords Brahma, Vishnu
and Shiva.
Lord Rama was seized with all calamities like being expelled from the kingdom to the forest for 14 years, demise of
father and the kidnapping of beloved wife Sita for forced marriage to Ravana. Though being the incarnation of Vishnu,
Lord Rama was grieving like a human being for his wife. He was telling his brother Lakshman that he would not live in
loss of Sita (his wife). As advised by Rishi Narada, Rama worshipped and envoked mother of the Universe, Durga
during Navaratra.
King Suratha protected his subjects in the way of truth and righteousness as a father protects his children. His
unscrupulous ministers connived with enemies. He was forced to flee into the dense forest for his life. A businessman
name Samadhi had come to the said dense forest having been cast over by his wife, children, trusted kinsmen because
of their avarice and greed and hence was bound by sorrow. Suratha and Samadhi had met in the hermitage of the great
saint / teacher named Medhas. They narrated their stories with wonder as to why they had remained attached to their
kingdom, business and family. Why they had remained worried about their wealth and wellbeing of the children. The
subject’s great sage told them that the world is deluded by the Supreme Goddess, the great measurement of
consciousness. SHE attracts the perceiving capacity of all sensible beings with such force as to thrust them in the
ignorance of egoistic attachment.
The Universe is born from HER, the perceivable world with all that mo ves and moves not. SHE, after satisfaction,
bestows upon men the blessing of liberation of consciousness the external existence. SHE is the cause of the bondage
of consciousness to objects and their relationships the full and complete supremacy over all sovereign.

By the great measurement, and therefore the world is deluded by Her. She, this Supreme Goddess, the great

On invocation and prayer by Brahma and other semi God, Bhawati Devi Durga appeared and killed two wicked giant
Madhua and Kaitav.

She is the Goddess of true wealth in the homes of the virtuous souls and is the misery of those who perform evil. She is
intelligence in the hearts of the pure minded, faith to the truthful, and humility to the truly noble. To that Divine
Goddess we bow in reverence.

By your grace, Oh Goddess, the meritorious souls perform every day all the actions of spiritual discipline and righteous
conduct with the greatest of faith and devotion, and thereby attain to heavenly perception. Are you not therefore the
grantor of all fruit in the three worlds?
First Three Days of Navaratra
The Goddess is invoked as a spiritual force called Durga also known as Kali in order to destroy all our impurities.
Second Three Days of Navaratra
The Mother is adored as a giver of spiritual wealth, Lakshmi, who is considered to have the power of bestowing on her
devotees inexhaustible wealth, as she is the goddess of wealth.
Final Three Days of Navaratra
The final set of three days is spent in worshipping the goddess of wisdom, Saraswati. In order to have all round success
in life, the believers seek the blessings of all three aspects of the divine feminity, hence the nine nights of worship.

O ruler of all, may you allay all the miseries of the three worlds and so, too, annihilate our enemies
After the demise of his father, Swami Vivekananda (Narendra) was in great financial break down – even not having
food for days together. His Guru Paramhansa Shri Ramakrishna asked him to go to his Mother Kali and ask her for a
boon. Narendra could not ask anything though he went thrice to Mother Kali. All three times he asked Mother to grant
him the power of discrimination, righteousness, wisdom and service and love.
Pray to Mother Divine, Love HER without condition – self – judgment and Ask not, for Mother knows the need. SHE
gives in time.

Mother of Universe, it is no surprise that you bestow your abundant mercy and grace on me, your child, who commits
error after error continually. You are Mother, hence you cannot disregard or ignore me, your son.
Worship mother with Devotion and Love. Divine Mother grants to HER lover the delight of earth and the bliss of union
– Both are her reality.
