The first Republic of Gamers (ROG) store of India was unveiled in Kolkata recently. Peter Chang, Regional Head- South Asia & Country Manager – ASUS India, inaugurated the store. Republic of Gamers is a new concept from ASUS. It is an exclusive gaming store, where people will be able to have their share of gaming experience. They will also be able to compete in different gaming tournaments organized by ASUS and other gaming competitions through this store. ASUS plans to tap in to the high potential gaming market in India and has launched a dedicated gaming laptop and desktop range recently to capture the market.

ASUS has created a gaming setup at the store to create a complete gaming environment. The company is about to launch five more ROG stores in India and two hundred more stores dedicated to gaming devices across the country. The gaming sector needs huge advancement of technology and better innovation. According to Peter Chang, the gamers are the most loyal users of ASUS. That is why they have entered the gaming sector with such enthusiasm. Though the gaming market is still not stable, it is expected to grow by 30% this year. Gaming has a huge strategic importance in the competitive market of laptops and desktops.

A whole new range of gaming laptops and desktops has been brought to the market by ASUS. It has all the features needed for a real life gaming experience. The CPUs are designed like an alien to create a visual impact on the psyche of gamers. About 1% of the total revenue of the company comes from the gaming laptops sold in India. When ASUS entered the Indian market, they did not have any market share but now India has become one of their main revenue earning countries. ASUS sells 2000 to 3000 units of laptops per month. They have a target of increasing it by 50% within next year.

When Chang was asked about the new Zenbot technology developed by ASUS, Chang told BE that it is still under research and right now they do not have any plans at present of bringing it to the Indian market. The price of the gaming laptops and desktops might be a little high. But the configuration makes them worth buying. The lowest range of laptops is around  `70,000
