IOB signed MoU with SBI General Insurance Co Ltd

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has signed a bancassurance agreement for distribution of non-life offerings with SBI General Insurance Company in the presence of Partha Pratim Sengupta, MD & CEO, Indian Overseas Bank and P.C. Kandpal, MD & CEO, SBI General Insurance Co Ltd. Through the alliance, SBI General will offer a range of general insurance solutions and innovative products to IOB customers. Speaking on the occasion, Sengupta said, “We will efficiently nurture it to be a long running mutually beneficial relationship. This tie-up will help expand our bouquet of Insurance product to our consumers.”

FICCI Flo Kolkata organised an insightful panel discussion on ‘Decoding Budget 2021: Road to 5 Trillion Economy’ with Dr. K V Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor, Government of India. He called it a “far-reaching budget where the focus has been on capital expenditure. India should focus on being self-reliant”. He added “this phase would be remembered as historic”. Talking about the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and privatisation aspect of the budget, he said “only the private sector can empower Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the private sector is important as it generates more employment opportunities than the government sector.”

Nasal micro-entrapment formulation to prevent Covid-sars-2

NIPER Kolkata organised an event named “Nasal micro-entrapment formulation for microbial and viral fixation to prevent Covid-sars-2”. Nasal micro-entrapment formulation for microbial and viral fixation looks at immobilising the viral particle on the nasal epithelium through a formulation of natural amino acid L-lysine and its oligomer. The molecule lysine and its oligomer have exposed positive and negative charged centres which are possibly doing hydrogen bonding (a particular type of binding) with the exposed amino acids of microbes as well as viral particle. Chief Guest Dr. Bhabatosh Biswas, Chairman, Board of Governors, NIPER Kolkata said “Using in silico methods, we are exploring the mode of binding behaviour of lysine and its oligomer with the proteins of Covid-19 (ACE2) and phospholipids of microbes and viral particles.”

CWBTA Trade Excellence Award -2021

The Confederation of West Bengal Trade Associations (CWBTA) Excellence Award 2021 was inaugurated at a function attended by traders, trade bodies, industry captains, representatives of the diplomatic corps and government institutions. Chief Guest Vinit Kumar, Chairman, Kolkata Port Trust, unveiled a Trade souvenir of CWBTA along with Sushil Poddar, President, CWBTA and other dignitaries. The Award felicitated achievers in 14 different categories related to trade and commerce. Poddar said, “The objective of the award is to encourage the trading fraternity and also highlight the importance of trade in the economic activity of the country.”

Rajasthan Tourism Conducts Road-show at TTF Kolkata

Rajasthan Tourism conducted an informative roadshow on the first day of TTF Kolkata at Uttirno, Alipore, exclusively for travel trade and media. Dr. Manisha Arora, Additional Director Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan made a vibrant presentation on the latest offerings from the colourful state of Rajasthan. She informed the travel agents and local media about the new tourism policy announced by the state government that aims at mitigating the adverse impact of Covid on the tourism industry. Rajasthan Tourism delegation consists of Joint Director of Tourism Anand Kumar Tripathi and DCF Forest Department Ajit Uchoi.
